Our Triathletes

Meet the "Intellitri" Family

We coach a great group of triathletes, ranging in ability, age and location!

We coach a fair number of professional triathletes, as well as age groupers from the young to not-so-young.  Whilst many of our athletes are UK-based, we have some as far afield as Australia, and Israel.

Some only have a few hours a week to train, juggling this around work and family commitments, others are lucky enough to train full time.

So no matter your circumstances, if you'd like to be coached by us, please contact us.

Read on to find out about some of the athletes we coach and what they do.  We aim to keep this page updated with news about each athlete, in particular during the race season.

Mark Billyard

Age: 31

Event: Olympic, Middle and Long Distance Triathlon

About me:

I started out as a swimmer - I am a multiple Age Group & Masters national and regional level swimming medallist.

I was impressed by Ironman Lanzarote while on a Club la Santa swim training camp. Once introduced to open water by former partner, the progression into triathlon was inevitable.

I chose ITT in order to fulfill my triathlon potential, as with my previous university swimming exploits.  Mark and ITT was recommended to me by Amy 'Brains' Kilpin.

Once into triathlon I established Havering Tri, a London based 110 member strong triathlon and multisport club. I have fulfilled chair, event organiser, head coach and mentor roles, whilst providing a superb athlete role model.

My top achievements in triathlon overall are: Ironman All World Athlete Gold 2017 & 2016; Silver 2015; 11 x Long Distance finisher.

The highlights since being coached by ITT include: - Ironman 70.3 World Championship 2016 - 04:26:44 - 30-34 AG 78/248 ; Overall 277/2721; Ironman Mallorca 2016 - 9:40:22 - 30-34 AG 26/250 ; Overall 119/2012

Celia Boothman

Age: 40

Distance/Event: 70.3 and Ironman

About me:

I started triathlon to get my fitness back after having my first son. I was previously a climber and runner, so triathlon gave me an excuse to get outdoors and was less time consuming than climbing! (although it has become more time consuming now!).

I wanted to qualify for Kona so chose ITT to coach me as I needed a push in the right direction, I had just started up my own coaching business and was struggling to get my own training down on paper.

I also have 2 boys who love the outdoors, living in Pembrokeshire we have plenty of fun in the sea.

Highlight of my time being coached by ITT:

The highlight of being coached was winning my AG at Ironman Wales and qualifying for Kona. My result was 50 minutes faster than my previous time so I was pretty happy with how everything came together on the day.

Will Cowen

Age: 22

Distance/Event: 70.3/Olympic distance

About me:

I started triathlon aged 15 when I fancied a change from staring at a black line for hours every week. After doing triathlon throughout sixth form, I joined Loughborough University where I worked my way onto the University's performance squad.

After a change in focus, I came to Intelligent Triathlon Training (ITT) to pursue success in 70.3 and non-drafting racing having known Mark from my Uni days.

Having achieved enough results this season (2016) whilst being coached by Mark, I am now aiming to progress within the pro ranks of middle distance triathlon. To help me through my season financially, I also work shifts as a lifeguard when I can!

Highlight of my time being coached by ITT:

Finding myself deep in the hurt locker on many 3 hour bike sessions- testing myself not only mentally but physically too.

Louise Fox

Age: 36

Distance/Event: Xterra and Off-road triathlon

About me:

I came from a running background, via sprint / olympic road triathlons before finally discovering the off road scene, and have never looked back!

My main goal has always been to represent GB as an Elite, with this achieved I am now looking to get on a few more podiums!

It's not easy fitting training in around my full time job as a computer programmer, but that's where having a good coach and scientific approach is invaluable.

Highlight of my time being coached by ITT

The highlight of being on Team ITT is definitely our training camps abroad, which I've never had opportunity to do before.

Will Kirk

Age: 22

Event: Sprint and Olympic Distance Triathlon- drafting and non-drafting

About me:

I started triathlon in 2008 after watching the Beijing Olympics on TV.

In 2011 I was selected onto the East Midlands Regional Academy and began participating in draft legal elite racing in the British Triathlon Super Series.

Since then I have continued to race at domestic elite level and have also represented the GB Age-Group team at several World and European Championship events.

I started being coached by Mark in 2015 and have just enjoyed my best 12 months yet in triathlon having moved back to Loughborough to study for a one year MSc Sport Management degree.

I hope to continue to improve into the 2017 season and win lots of races next year!

Highlight of my time being coached by ITT:

Breaking decisively through the 16min barrier for the 5000m, improving my 10 mile bike time by over a minute from August 2015 to August 2016 and finishing 4th overall in the 2016 Castle Triathlon Series standard distance final rankings.

Kimberley Morrison

Age: 28

Distance/Event: Middle Distance

About me:

I am a very proud owner of our Alaskan Malamute along with my husband Ben. We travelled to our first triathlon from London to Corby in 2012 (a super super sprint!) I won and the love grew.

We worked hard on my Claud Butler aluminium frame for months and months and in 2013 I qualified for the GBR AG Team.

In 2014, with a slightly upgraded bike, I became European AG Champion in Kitzbühel, Austria.

I joined forces with Mark Pearce (ITT) in late 2014 because my husband follows Will Clarke and noticed he was then coached by Mark. We did our research and we liked the 'intelligent' approach to training and Mark's experience within British Triathlon.

I thank Will, Ben and Mark so much for the success we have enjoyed since starting our working coach-athlete relationship.

We had a strong first year at middle distance and met the requirements to confidently race professionally starting late 2015.

I love hard work but I also love food with lots of time spent with the family. We had a great mix of this in Winter 2015/16 and even found a week to take our Alaskan Malamute skiing in France.

Highlight of my time being coached by ITT:

Racing soon arrived in 2016 and  Ben and I boarded our BA flight to Argentina Safe to say we never thought we would be returning Ironman70.3 Buenos Aires Champion! I had a strong race and showed a hint of world class potential on the bike... the podiums kept coming in 2016 and I can not wait to see what 2017 has for us...
