Valley Girl Triathlon

(Colbert, WA, USA)

Location & Country: Liberty Lake, WA, USA

Date: July 10th, 2011

The course is set in Liberty Lake, just west of Post Falls, ID. It starts at a decent 8am to cater to first timers. Being a women-only triathlon, it serves as a great race for those women looking to experience their first taste of competition.

The Race Course:

It is a u-shaped swim around buoys in temperate 70-degree water, water that is very calm. Wet suits are allowed, but I didn't need one.

The bike course is a very flat out and back route with technical support from Fitness Fanatics.

The run course is flat, along roads and paved trails that take participants through neighborhoods, by a golf course, and it finishes in the park.

The transitions are well organized, but the swim-bike transition is on the beach (sand). Long transition from swim-bike as well as from bike-run, which required participants to run through sand to put their bikes back before taking off on the run.

Overall Organisation And Atmosphere Of Race:
Very friendly, well organized race with wonderful, supportive volunteers.

Top Tips For Other Triathletes:
It is a fast course, and be prepared for long transitions.

Overall Would I Recommend This Race?

My Race Story:
A knee injury encouraged me to start cross training, and I thought I should put it all to good use.
