La Cite Verte, Hagetmau is a great venue for a triathlon training camp in the Pyrenees-Atlantique, France.

How To Get There:

La Cite Verte is located in the Pyrenees-Atlantique region of South West France. Hagetmau is a small town with only 4500 habitants.

By Road: A64, exit Orthez A63, exit Mont de Marsan

By Train: TGV to Dax (45 mn)
to Orthez (20 mn)

By Plane: Pau Uzein Airport (40 minutes)

La Cite Verte is a multi-sport training centre, with all the facilities you could need for triathlon training. All you need to do is bring your triathlon training programme!

Swim, Bike And Run Facilities/Opportunities:

Swimming: There is a 50-m indoor pool available for guests to use for a small charge, and you can book a private lane. There is also a jacuzzi, hydrotherapy bench and sauna to aid your recovery.

Cycling: There is an extensive network of quiet rural roads with terrain in the immediate proximity ranging from flat to undulating. Head south and you begin to get into the foothills of the Pyrenees within about 40-km.

Running: On the site of the training centre there is a 400-m outdoor Mondo track, with grass pitches arranged around the centre, proving lots of running options.

For longer runs there are a lot of trails heading out into the country side, one of which takes you up to a nearby lake, with a good gravelled path running around the perimeter (6-km).

There is also a gym with treadmills, bikes and weights.

Accommodation Type And Location:

The centre provide a total of 96 beds, in bedrooms with 1,2,3 or 4 beds. They are to be found in 4 pavilions, with double washbasins, showers and separate toilets. For taller athletes, beds of 2.30m are available on request.

There is also a 4-star camping site situated in the grounds, with 24 individual pitches of approximately 100 m2. Each pitch has a private toilet block with shower, washbasin, WC, etc.

For those wanting a higher standard of accommodation the place to go is Hotel Restaurant des Lacs d'Halco (www.hotel-des-lacs-dhalco.com). This is about 3-km from La Cite Verte. You can then arrange individual use of the training facilities in La Cite Verte.

There is a restaurant on site with a wide range of food all prepared on site. Menus can be provided for those with special requirements.
