Aqua Sphere Ironman Wetsuit
Aqua Sphere Ironman Pursuit Competitor Series Wetsuit AW09
I’m fairly new to triathlon so didn’t want to spend a fortune on a wetsuit. The Aqua Sphere Ironman really fits the bill.
Luckily I read a few reviews before buying it, which helped me go for the right size. Use the chest size to determine your size – I bought a large which fits perfectly, but if I’d not used the chest size I would
have bought a medium which would have been too small.
The wetsuit does its job well in that I didn’t feel at all cold on my first swim, in 15C water!
The first time I swam in it it felt a little tight and it rubbed a little round the neck, but already by its second outing it seemed much better.
The rubber round the shoulders is thinner than the rest of the suit so I get good range of motion and flexibility for swimming. This does mean though that you have to be careful when pulling the sleeves up, to make sure you don’t rip them. They’re probably not as delicate as they seem but I wouldn’t want to take the risk.
The only thing I wasn’t so keen on was the length of the legs, so I trimmed a bit off. Before this I struggled a bit to get it off quickly but obviously the wider leg holes after cutting it helped.
The design of the Aqua Sphere Ironman is great – it definitely tells people you’re an ironman!
It is probably not the most buoyant or water-repellent suit on the market but neither does it cost a fortune. It still feels pretty fast though, good glide through the water.
I found it pretty comfortable to run in through transition – no feeling like your legs are tied together!
The Aqua Sphere Ironman wetsuit is a really good entry suit and great value for money. It even comes with a special case for transporting it, and is nice and light. I’m impressed! I would recommend it to any beginner triathlete.
